United Way of Pickens County first in the Upstate to launch
2-1-1!
2-1-1 is a single call that connects you with a trained information and referral specialist, who directs you to appropriate agencies and programs that can help you.

2-1-1 truly shines during disasters. Nationally, from hurricanes to terrorist attacks and even smaller regional crisis like the train wreck in Graniteville in 2006, we’ve seen 2-1-1 play a vital rile throughout the relief, recovery and rebuilding.

2-1-1 call data will be used as a social barometer to enable service providers, funders and other stakeholders to assess needs and find solutions – as a community.

2-1-1- will give agencies who need volunteers a place to advertise, and it will give people who want to volunteer a place to find opportunities.

United Way brings Pickens County together to focus on the most important needs in our community--building partnerships, forging consensus and leveraging resources to make a measurable difference.

Our experience tells us that the best way to help the most people is to focus on the underlying causes of the most serious problems. Here in Pickens County we’re focused on critical issues like access to health care, quality early childhood education and linking people who need help with people who want to help!

We know that it takes the whole community working together to reach our goals. So we bring together people from all across the community-people from government, business, faith groups, nonprofits, and ordinary citizens. If it requires fundraising, going to City Hall, or just getting people to work together, that’s what we do. Because, that is what matters!
